History
Planova was founded in 1964 as a supplier to businesses in Denmark. In a short time Planova had grown to become one of Scandinavia’s biggest suppliers of steel systems to the forecourt and supermarket sectors. During the 60’s Planova cemented its position as the leading supplier of shop fittings to the Fuel industry and amongst many projects designed and delivered the first convenience stores for BP in 1965.
Following this the growth of Planova moved in a higher gear.
Back in 1985 Planova’s first subsidiary was opened in Stockholm, Sweden – Planova AB. One of their main objectives was to service the contract for Statoil won by Planova at that time. In 1993 the company opened a subsidiary in France in a small city called Nogent Sur Seine just south of Paris. It was the first subsidiary in one of the biggest countries of Europe and the company worked hard building up a good working relationship with the oil chains placed in France.
Throughout the 1990’s Planova firmly established its position as the world leading manufacturer of shop equipment to the oil companies within the forecourt sector. Planova supplied ExxonMobil, BP, Shell, TOTAL, TEXACO and many more. In the beginning of 2000 Planova merged with two of the biggest wood production companies in Scandinavia, Striboldt and Hoeg, and by doing so the company was in a position of supplying not only steel fittings, but also furniture made out of wood, acrylic and glass.
In the period of 2006 to 2008 Planova expanded and opened subsidiary companies in Poland (2006), Germany (2007), China (2007), and England (2008). The powerful expansion in Europe was a direct consequence of wishing to be closer to the major customers and to provide a better and bigger range of services. Together with the office in China, Planova achieved a faster, and a qualitative sourcing of material such as trolleys, furniture, LED-Lighting, making them even stronger in the competitive world-wide market.
From its humble beginning Planova has grown from being a small Danish supplier to one of the leading suppliers of shop fittings to the oil industry and has in addition to its own subsidiaries in Europe and China, a growing network of partners placed in East and South Africa, Dubai (EMA), Eastern Europe, USA, India and many other countries.
From the initial focus on the oil industry and Scandinavian food supermarkets, Planova has broadened their range of products and now also supply shop fittings to retail stores and groups within DIY /Gardening, Toy /Entertainment & Fashion sectors, and the industrial service sectors such as Hotels, Laboratories and public services.
In the past Planova has focused on production and delivery of high quality fittings.
However, at the request of many customers, Planova have developed new services, including Project Management and full turnkey supply of materials and subcontractors, which enable Planova to deliver a finished store from a basic shell.
